Wednesday 2nd July began bright and early as the Taunton Prep School team departed from the School at 6:30am for the three-hour journey to the iconic Alexander Stadium, proud host of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

TPS was represented by 16 pupils, having earned their place by finishing in the top two at the regional qualifiers. Impressively, more than 20 pupils had actually qualified, though some were unable to attend due to holiday commitments.

With 10 regions from across the country competing, the standard of competition was incredibly high. Despite the challenge, TPS athletes rose to the occasion, delivering strong performances and securing multiple Top 10 finishes.

The standout moment of the day came from Erin W, who, on her final jump, leapt from second place to win the Year 6 Long Jump – a spectacular achievement.

All TPS competitors should feel immensely proud of their efforts and sportsmanship on the national stage.
